dmd.2.0.34, ok you're using D2, in D2 the name is object.di and should be in the zip.

I'm not surprised it can't find object.d as I seem to have no such file on my system.
So where do I get object.d? Where does it go?

| I don't know what "shell" does but the error message usually means it either can't find object.d or phobos.lib. It could also mean it can't find sc.ini which is the file with the location of ... |
