I will be going on vacation next week (July 15th-22nd, Maine yay!), so I won't have access to this forum, or be posting SVN updates.
HOWEVER, I most likely will be working on this game during my break, so I hope to have a big SVN update after vacation

Anyway, enjoy your vacation!

Thanks JJR -- and keep it on the down-low... although chances of my girlfriend reading this forum is slim to nil |

I'm back!
And I am engaged!
It has been a very busy weekend since I returned... but I did make some large improvements to FreeUniverse over vacation. Saving/loading player information now works, many other improvements, and I'm working on quests...
HOWEVER, I haven't updated the SVN yet, there are a few small things I want to verify before doing so... probably will be within the next two days.
I'm looking forward to the questing system, should make for some very unique quests |

Congradulations!
I have a question about FreeUniverse, as I am trying to learn how to play it
In the initial versions I could use the fire key and blow up planets and shoot at ships.
In the current version, I dock on a planet and buy + install a weapon and it tells me 'maximum weapon count has been reached'
Is there a way to install weapons? Thanks.

Thank you!
You now start the game with only a shuttle, and you cannot install any weapons in a shuttle. So, you have to buy something other than a shuttle -- fighters and captain cruisers can install many weapons. Under the 'SHIP' option while docked, you can see how many weapons you and other ships can hold.
The initial versions had new players start with a beefy ship complete with weapons, but that isn't how it should be what happens if the player just wants to be a peaceful tourist? |

Ah thanks. I got it working now, except I can't get the death ray and sniping weapon to work |

Hrm, how so? Both the death ray and sniping weapon require "charge time" as do the cruiser engines. You can monitor the charging process by moving the mouse all the way to the left (item status) -- just keep holding the "fire" button until the death ray / sniping weapon charge fully, then they will fire. |
