Just a small question, but why is rulesplayer ignoring the 'current color profile' ? (You can check this by using some insane one)

Is it because rulesplayer is using the overlay mixer as output?
I dunno whether this is mplayer or rulesplayer fault, but if you think mpc is slow just put mpc in overlay mixer mode and they will be of the same speed.
(using ffdshow ofcourse Smile

Btw I really loved the way rulesplayer installs (neatly downloading everything etc.) and I use rulesplayer so that I don't need to change all my mpc settings to play some insane h264 video Smile

On a windows (XP) system you have a color profile for calibration purposes.
As you probably know: every screen looks different Smile
Thats why there is this color profile to compensate for it.

If you have photoshop, there will be a 'Adobe gamma' under the 'other control panel options'.

The profile is loaded in: display properties > settings > advanced > color management.

If I change the settings in my color profile (through adobe gamma) mpc changes correctly, but the video in rulesplayer stays unchanged.

Oh... That's because the video ouput is overlay. Use the overlay color controls of your video card...

Yeah, but is it maybe possible to not use overlay?
The color correction is kinda crappy for overlay Smile
Ah well I'm probably being picky here.
Just remember that mpc is just as fast in overlay mode. Wink

Well, it is possible to use opengl output but I can't make it work (at all) yet. But even if I make it work (at least on my machine) it can't be resized, so I guess it will be useless. And the slowness of mpc isn't in its rendering. It is in the movie loading/seeking.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. I am not currently doing anything about the player because I have a lot of work (that I get paid for), but in nearest future I have some ideas on my mind how to resolve the problem... Will c...
