Hi all, forgive if this has already been covered, for Mango beta 7 i try to compile using ( DMD's make )

make -fmango.mak unittest

I get :

Error: don't know how to make 'mango/io/model/IBuffer.d'

using both cygwin and cmd.

Thanks!
Charlie

I'm taking a wild guess that you need to be one directory removed from mango to compile it. That is, run make from one directory above mango such that the structure is like so:

src/mango/io/model

etc.

Let me know if that helps?

That works, then I get error cannot write mango\obj\...

creating the obj directory under mango\ works.

How do you usually build it ?

Might wanna update readme.txt ?

'make -fmango/make/mango.mak unittest'

etc..

Thanks,
Charlie

Oh is that what this means

Note that you must compile from the dmd/src directory, otherwise the compiler will not resolve module names correctly.

hehe, gonna have to change notepad as default .txt editor :S, no word wrap sucks.

You're right Charlie; I should make a note about creating the /obj directory (or add it to the make file). That's been pointed out to me before, and I still haven't done anything about it Embarassed

Please do let us know how you get along with Mango!

I've tryied compile Mango 3-4 weeks ago last time and I ran into the same problems as Charlie. Kris please fix it if it's necessary or write more detailed instructions about making project somewhere in readme.txt.

Thanks for Mango, it's most active and promising project on D now.

Thanks for the support Yuriy; I'd really appreciate knowing how you're getting on with it, and how it could be made easier/better/whatever.

I have finally added further instructions to the Beta-8 readme.txt file regarding the directory structure and the /obj issue. The latter would also be resolved if we ensured the obj/ws2_32.lib was present in the zip file, or download area (which I may do). Sincere apologies to everyone who went through the hassle of figuring out the directory requirements for themselves.

Regards; and let's hear more about problems with Mango! There's so little feedback that it's hard to know what needs attention <g>
