Is it supposed to be possible to nest layouts?
I created a simple form with a dock-fill top-level widget, and a dock-left Panel. Then I put a single dock-top button in the Panel.

But the dock-fill item at the form level expands to fill the form.

When I tried the same thing with a GroupBox on the it worked ok.

Is this proper behavior? It seems difficult to do very complicated resizeable layouts if you can't use Panels (or something else) to nest layouts.

Try adding the dock-left panel before the dock-fill widget. Yes I know its nit-picky, but if I remember right that will make it work.

You can nest layouts. The way it determines the scope of docked controls is simply the z-order. You can right-click on the controls in Entice and change the z-order; by using Send to Back, for example. The initial order of adding the controls is how the z-order is first determined, which is where csauls' response comes from, which works fine too.

Thanks folks. Send-to-back on the fill control did the trick!
