Is there any way to configure phpBB to let you monitor a forum and get an email notification any time a post is made to any topic?

I have 4 different dsource projects now all with forum traffic so low that it doesn't make sense to see if there's anything new on the forum every day. And there are two or three other projects' forums that I'd also like to monitor that also have similarly low traffic.

I think the majority of forums on Dsource here are like that.

It doesn't have to be a phpBB feature, but does anyone know of anything that can be used to consolidate phpBB traffic in one place? Some kind of fancy RSS feed / phpBB gateway thing maybe?

Thanks

I think this is a common problem. I don't know what the best solution is.

I don't know of any e-mail notification except for it can be turned on for a particular topic and PMs can alert you by e-mail.

Your best option for the time being might be to start a topic called something like "Please Post Your Questions Here", and ask people to post there if they want to get your attention. And since you can set notification for a particular topic, you'd get an e-mail every time someone responded in that topic. If people don't follow instructions, they might get a slower response.

There are some RSS options that might be useful, though. (I use Google Reader to follow several RSS feeds.) I still try to manually check dsource.org every few days, so I don't use RSS for finding out about which forums are posted in, but there is a feed that will tell you about forum posts: http://www.dprogramming.com/dnews/dsource/newsfeed.php. I've found that it's helpful to follow projects by adding the RSS from the Trac timelines. I think that when these forums are converted to TracForums those will show up in the timeline, but right now only tickets, SVN changesets, and wiki edits show up.

Yes, the goal is TracForums... Pragma has given me the code, like a month ago, and the ball is in my court to get that code integrated with my new dsource platform code... Shouldn't be hard. And I want to do it before the end of the year.

As for the specific notification functionality, I'll have to go back through emails that Pragma sent me, but I believe there is more functionality than what phpBB gives.

Stay tuned. Thanks for everyone's patience.
