Hi,

what are the current plans for developing DDBI?
is there still development? how could be helped?
what is needed urgently? Smile
i'm using the postgresql variant combined with tango and gdc. the first steps were a little difficult, but now i think it's a good interface.
Some points which need to be fixed/developed are in my point of view:
- Statement-Builder
- encode()-Function
- Documentation
just for starting the discussion. *g*

Hi THINK,

there are actually quite a few plans and work in progress, although it has gotten quite a bit delayed over the summer. See the DDBI frontpage for some hints, plus the Call for discussion: dbi.Row thread here in the forum.

The changes are likely to be quite noticable. Even though current interface is fairly easy to use, it is far from being fast and efficient, and is also a bit simplistic and lacking flexibility.

Wheter all is fixable is of course an open question Smile

I have a project that will make extensive use of ddbi. Are there going to be significant breaking changes in the public interface to ddbi? If so, will these be released soon?

Essentially, would you recommend waiting for the new version, or is it going to be simple enough to port things later?

There will definately be breaking changes to the API, probably extensive - whether these will be unsurmountable is yet to be seen. I'm not very far from having something to show really, so with some luck - fairly soon (I've said within the month for 3 months now, and will try that again Smile

Okay, I'll put off the database portions for a bit. Thanks, for your quick reply and for your work.
