|
|
I just noticed today when I was going to create a new project that descent only creates an empty folder/project, no build and src folders and no standard library. I also noticed that I don't have the preference "Installed Compilers" anymore. I'm not sure but perhaps this happened in the latest nightly build.

Yes, exactly.
Since that preference page was bringing more trouble than anything else, I decided to remove it. Also, since there isn't really an integrated compiler, the concept of "Installed Compiler" was really misleading.
They'll probably come back once there's an integrated compiler... |

What about the things when I create a new project? |

When you create a new project you can select the include path and the source folders. That's the only thing that Descent is using for resolving declarations.
What else do you need? Maybe I took something that is really needed...? |

Previously it created the src and bin folders and added the include path to the standard library/source files automatically. I takes a lot longer time to find those include path every time I create a new project.
Perhaps it could be like JDT, in the preferences dialog, Java->Build Path->User Libraries, that would nice to have. Perhaps we can get the Build Path back also. |

I see.. I didn't know it created the src and bin folders, I think that option is already there, right? In the second page of the wizard, at the bottom.
I like the idea of User Libraries, I'll try to do that if I have time. I began to write a project and had to add drelict and arc as libraries for two projects, and it was tedious to add all of the include paths twice. It would have been much easier if there were support for User Libraries. |

Hello,
I'm a newcomer to D and I appreciate the work done on descent.
However, the wiki here:
http://dsource.org/projects/descent/wiki
under the "Features" heading, the last item says:
"Runs and debugs programs within the IDE"
I understand from my use of the latest build and this thread that this is not true. Could that be removed from the wiki not to mislead new users anymore? |

But that's true. You can right click an executable and select run or debug. If you run it, the output will be placed in the Eclipse's console. If you debug it, then you can indeed do so, and Descent provides an UI for ddbg or gbd.
Descent doesn't compile files for you, but that isn't said anywhere. |

then, the document at http://dsource.org/projects/descent/wiki/Configuring
should be changed at this line:
"
2. Go to D -> Installed Compilers.
"
When I read that, I thought my installation was incorrect and stuck for several hours. |
