Yes... Sorry, this really bugs me too because it works well for me and for others, but for some of you it doesn't and I'm trying to figure out what is it... but it's hard to tell without having the problem right there. Do you think I can do something like remote desktop to try to see what's going on?
I already asked running "eclipse -clean" and clearing every descent-related plugin and feature and updating again without luck |

I have one descent entry in "About Eclipse SDK Plug-ins":
Code: | Descent | AST View Plug-in | 0.5.3.20081231 | descent.astview |
And one in features:
Code: | | Descent UI Plug-in | 0.5.3.20090102 | descent.ui |
BTW I use Eclipse Classic. |

Clicking the button "Plug-in Details" in Help->About Eclipse Platform shows 3 descent plugins: Descent Debug Plug-in, Descent Launching Plug-in, and Descent Metrics Plug-in.

Clicking the button "Feature Details" in Help->About Eclipse SDK Plug-ins shows NO Descent features installed. (even though the Descent feature is visible in the features directory under descent.ui_0.5.3.20090102.

Yes, this one is the much smaller download: Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers. I wonder if I need classic in order for this to work? I may download it, but it will take awhile on my connection.

Ah, damn... when I coded the user libraries feature I added the org.eclipse.jdt.ui plugin as a dependency to descent.ui to see and copy the code. I forgot to remove that dependency and that must be the problem... Probably the Eclipse with plugins for C++ doesn't have any JDT related plugins and Eclipse prevents descent.ui from being activated.
Tonight I'll make a new release that fixes this.
I hope that's it... |

Thanks asterite.
I'm guessing that it is the problem. I'll test it as soon as you release it.

This IS the cause. Installed JDT and now Descent works again. |

Hmm... I wonder whether I should wait for a fix for CDT or download 150+ MB on dialup.

I'll probably release the next week. Sorry, I'm at Houston and I'm not with my home notebook, plus I'd like to know Houston more (but there doesn't seem to be a lot of action here...)
What you can do in the meantime is unzip the descent.ui.jar and remove the entry org.eclipse.jdt.ui from the META-INF/MANIFEST.MF file. Then pack everything again and replace the jar. It should work.
That's a temporary workaround until I release. |

Ok, thanks, asterite.
I may give that a try.

This fixed the problem! Many thanks!
All I had to do was run eclipse with "eclipse -clean" to get it working after making the change.

I've fixed the problem in the newest release, 0.5.4, which should be available now in the update manager. |
