I saw the util package.

I think we should expand that concept to create a library

this library would start to be a support to the java conversion
and it would end up to be a full feature D Object Oriented library.

We should change the existing String class to support
the API we need from the java String class.

what do you think?
(this will not please Walter...)

We started down that road, but I took the purist route (i.e. I went with what Walter said) to see if it could be done. Also, I don't know if I want to bite off more than we can chew. As it is, I'm no expert and am using this exercise to learn about OO and SWT/gui tools. I'm not opposed to the idea long-term, but for now, I wanted to see if char[] and bit and others could be done, without the util library.

I'm not set against your idea, though, and if you implement it, I'll use it. I just kind of want to keep focused on getting HelloWorld to compile and render a window...
