| I don't know why it went unnoticed before, but build 2.09 can't be compiled because it's missing (at least) util/bmscanner.d and util/bmscanner_bn.d. |

It doesn't use those modules any more. They were removed from v2.09 so I'm not sure why you think it needs them. I've been building v2.09 many times and it works.
Check that you are trying to compile the correct version of the source.

| All three makefiles use those files. I'll try deleting them from the makefiles. |

The make files I distributed with v2.09 do not include those modules.

Ok, the files that are now don't have them. I agree. However, I have another build-2.09.src.zip dated august 10th, which makefiles do have those files. For more reference, build_bn.d has auto_build_number=1197.

No, it was my mistake. In the very first upload of that ZIP file I did have the wrong make files. I realized this and updated the correct makefiles shortly after, but I guess you were the unlucky one to get the bad makefiles. The rest of the files were unchanged so I didn't think it necessary to make it a new version of the application.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
