I was looking here and there in the web and stuck on something that never caught my attention in the past - XUL. The Mozilla guys stripped their browser into something called XULRunner - a program for delivering standalone XUL apps. And there was 'hall of fame' with some very very impressive programs. Including music player and video player. They were using VLC I think, but I thought what about using the Mozilla Mplayer plugin (I don't know what level of control it provides) in combination with XUL. It will produce a nice cross-platform player. The problem is I couldn't find how to extend the JS API. They provide DOM and the builtin javascript stuff but this is not enough to build a player (anything but GUI in fact). I saw it is possible. People are extending it, making players, etc... Just all the tutorials (only one!) that I've found only show some really really basic stuff. The XUL syntax and some event handling. But such application is useless. A gui that is doing nothing but displaying message boxes........ |

I normally just browse examples (here: the hall of fame and extract the info from there.
Or maybe just email those people (like those from chatzilla or something) |
