How do I use WindowsAPI with DDBI. Are there any configurations I need to be doing? |

To install WindowsAPI and use ODBC, there are two things you need to do.
Follow the directions at the ODBC Subproject website to get an odbc32.lib for ODBC version 3.51.
Put the WindowsAPI files somewhere on the import path. There are 3 ways to do this.
Put the win32 folder in your project directory.
Put the win32 folder in your dmd\src\phobos directory.
Put the win32 folder anywhere and reference it in dmd\bin\sc.ini or with a compiler switch.
That should get it working. |

What do I need to do for deployment? Do I need to install MDAC 2.8 on the client machine? |

The client machine would need the ODBC driver for the database you are using and possibly MDAC.
Windows XP SP2, Windows 2003, and Windows Vista all are supposed to have the most recent version of MDAC installed. ODBC 3.51 (the most recent version) appears to have been supported since MDAC 2.5.
Since MDAC 2.5 was released in 2000 and is installed with Windows 2000, Windows 2000 and later shouldn't need to have MDAC installed, but previous versions of Windows likely will need it.
I hope that helps. |
