|
|
Hello,
When I tried to get Yage via 'dsss net install yage', I got the following erratic output:
Code: | yage\core\plane.d(29): no identifier for declarator v
yage\core\plane.d(29): semicolon expected, not ')'
Command C:\d\dsss\bin\rebuild.exe returned with code 1, aborting.
Error: Command failed, aborting. |
Is DSSS a currently supported method of installing Yage?
Thanks a lot,

I plan to look into DSSS eventually, but right now I don't know much about it. For now, the instructions on this page should get you going.
I find it odd that you're actually getting a parsing compile error instead of a linking or file-not-found error.

Hey,
Thanks for the reply. I don't know a LOT about DSSS myself, but I can say that I find it a very useful tool. By the way, I like the API layout of YAGE so far and look forward to digging deeper into the source code very soon. Seems like a nice project.
Laters,

If you want, I could help make yage more dsss friendly. For one thing, you wouldn't need to put the derelict files in your trunk, as dsss will read your source and download derelict for the end user. Similarly, any DSSS D project using yage would get yage downloaded automatically.

Sure, that'd be great. It just needs the single Dsss.conf, doesn't it?
My custom build script currently checks for the existence of a derelict-compiler-os.lib and if it doesn't exist, compiles the derelict source into that lib if it doesn't exist. It then compiles the source together with that lib, performs a few custom steps for documentation, and then links it all together.
I realize that I could've probably got dsss to do most or all of that, but I've always been a fan of minimal build requirements. That's probably why I was so stubborn about switching to Tango. It also prevents any changes in derelict from breaking my own build, so I would still like to keep my current build method.
Dsss would still be a great additional option though, since it's the preferred build tool of so many. I gave you svn access in case you need it. |
