The DDBI link is currently broken (http://jeremy.cowgar.com/ddbi) and I did not find the correct link by looking around jeremy.cowgar.com. If anyone has a copy of the source, please let me know. if it's not hosted anywhere I'll give you my email address.
Thanks!

You might be able to get ahold of the author by posting a comment in his blog. Then again, that might not work either:

Dang. Sad

I was hoping to use this along with DSP to provide a really solid bottom tier to things. Whatever pulled him away from the 'net, I sincrely hope it isn't serious.

So are there any other competing DB unification projects out there for D?

i have the old ddbi source files downloaded before he gone away.
I can upload 'em somewhere for download if it's ok...
I am aslo trying to extend it's functionality and add support for other databases.

I'd reccomend messaging Brad to see if he wouldn't mind hosting the files someplace on dsource.

I'd hate to advocate forking the project, but this is a really useful library. It would be a shame for it to go to waste.

if you wouldn't mind, can you send the sources to ctlajoie at gmail?

I too have the source code but I'd be reluctant to pass it around because I tend to hack things up a bit (using Windows). I was thinking that the next thing to do might be to support ODBC. It would certainly help people like me who have existing projects written in outmoded databases that could greatly benefit from being partially rewritten in D.

I was unaware that Jeremy's site was gone until I came to check this forum today. This project is definitely worth saving so it'd be great if we could get a copy of the last known released source code up so we at least have a standard from which to base future work!

un_guru sent me his copy. I'm not sure if he hacked his up too though. I can send it to you if you want to compare. email me at the address I mentioned above if you want it. I'll send it to anyone who asks, until we can create a new project, which I believe is fully warranted.

Aparently Jeremy's whole site is down now. I can't even get to the main blog page.

Is there no way we can just get another project administrator assigned to the existing project? Or is that just not kosher?

there are no assignments, everyone can contribute to any project Smile
I am willing to continue the work here but I don't have the time yet.

Actually for most projects, you must be given special access before you can contribute source code to it. Access is usually given to those who have shown serious interest by submitting tangible contributions to the project admin. On the other hand, a simple request made to Brad from the project administrator is usually enough to get someone submit privileges.

The only project that is trully open to public contributions from community members is the "bindings" project.

Do we want to host it in a dsource svn repos? Is that okay with Jeremy, or due to the license, can we do it anyway?

It'd be nice if we could get permission from Jeremy, but I don't think we need it since it seems to be GPL: http://jeremy.cowgar.com/ddbi/files2/LICENSE-txt.html
